Ralphs, which is owned by Kroger Co., Fined $67,000 in Overcharging Customers via Dealznstealz Shopz

VAN NUYS (KTLA) -- Ralphs supermarket chain was ordered Wednesday to pay over $67,000 in fines in connection with charges that it overcharged customers.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Thomas Rubison ordered the grocery chain to 3 years probation and $67,618 in fines and assessments.

Ralphs Grocery Co. pleaded no contest last month to 62 misdemeanor charges of false advertising and false labeling at 14 Los Angeles locations.

City prosecutors found during a series of undercover investigations that some products were found to be less than the weight listed on the packaging, according to the charges.

Ralphs released a statement saying that the charges involved "isolated events."

Ralphs, which is owned by Cincinnati-based Kroger Co., was cited for similar violations in 2008 and 2009, and was fined $17,000
