Playa-Hata @ Walgreens

Playa -Hata Alert!!!
Apology email from Walgreens.

Few weeks back when shopping at Walgreens (for my last time), got in to quite an "argument" with, what I believe is, an assistant manager at Walgreens.

Yes, it was with the $1 off cream of wheat coupon.
Long story short, I was buying 4 boxes with 4 coupons, he told me "he" wouldn't take it, that "he" would not give it to me for free (item was $1). I told him sure, it is no problem.
He just walked away from the counter and was gone a good 5 minutes (of course there are 7 people in line now). He comes back and in a very demeaning way told me that "he" did not think it was right to give away items for free (now, I had 4 or 5 other items that I was paying for in the order).

He kept lecturing me, seriously, talking down to me. Now, not once has this ever happened to me, I'm 6'4" and extremely athletic. He kept talking about what "he" would do, etc.... I just looked at him and said "buddy, I don't want a story, are you giving me the $1 off or not". He said his manager told him to do it but "he" still didn't agree with it.

Now, I am an extremely easy going guy, takes a whole lot to upset me, but this did it. I actually contacted Walgreens corporate about this.

Anyway, they got back to me with this:

"I was sorry to hear of your upsetting experience. Gary has been disciplined and understands the need for a stronger focus on customer service and the need to address our customers needs. If I can be of any further assistance don't hesitate to contact myself."
Yep, I feel vindicated. I've had people refuse coupons before and let it slide, but this guy tried to lecture me on and on and on and with a good 7 to 8 people waiting (and getting upset).

Honestly, a big part of why I even wrote to Walgreens is I have read so many posts on this forum of the hard times people have there and that spurred me to contact them as well, maybe it will help out in the big picture.
